Not at all. Mary is to be highly respected as God blessed her with the birth of Jesus. The distinction is that the Bible clearly states that we only have one Mediator and that is Jesus Himself. He even rebuked the woman who attempted to praise Mary. Prayers to the dead – and that includes Mary – is strictly forbidden in the Old Testament and nowhere in the New Testament does that change. Salvation only comes through Jesus – the Lamb, the door, etc. – and Mary has no Biblical footing to be involved in salvation from our sin. The apostles warned against any other Gospel being considered besides faith in Jesus alone.
